The tank will cost you from $5-40. Don't forget to buy the lid. When I bought a 2 gallon tank for my fish, the lid cost about the same as the tank itself!
For the dishes, Amazon.com has 2 dishes for $4.59, if that gives you an idea. One dish ranges from $2-5 I think.

For the coconut shack, they are $1-5. You can buy one from my site - the Amazon list - and it's only $1.90!
Buy some playsand from your hardware store - it will be about $5.
But some coconut fiber from a petstore - $3-6
Your substrate should be a few inches deep.
Heating pad - Make sure you get one for a 10 gallon tank. If you can only find 1-5 gallon heaters, then I think you should buy 2. I don't really know for sure, because I've never used a heater. The small heaters are $10-20 each.
Hermit crabs - $4-8 in my experience at Petco. Don't buy the "fancy" crabs, because they are in painted shells. Buy ACTIVE crabs that look healthy. Make sure they are not covered in mites!
**** Altogether it's ABOUT $50 - $100 ****
My tips:
+ Make your own dishes from household products like lids, plastic containers, Legos, large sea shells, plates, etc.
+ Keep your eye out for yard sales. Sometimes they want to gid rid of ALL of their fish or reptile supplies. So that will get you tanks, plastic plants, huts, dishes, etc. For $5 I got a 10 gallon tank with a dish and a hut!
+Ebay!
+ You may not need a heater if you live in a warm climate. Also put your tank in the highest room of the house (heat rises), near the kitchen or fireplace if it needs help with warmth.

Also, make sure you have a thermometer and hygrometer. You might also want a "mat stat" thermostat to keep a constant temperature. Don't forget to provide a salt water bathing pool - you'll need proper marine salt for that.

i got my brother 2 hermit crabs. with buying the bare minimum it was an easy 50 bucks. plus you gotta buy sponges for the water bowls. alot of sand/rocks. dehydrated fruits. it gets VERy expensive.
you dont have to buy all that all you need for tow hurmit crabs is a starter kit witch you can get at any store that sells them it will prbabaly coast about $25.00

Is it legal to start a critics website reviewing local business using the name of the business in the review?
say i have bad reviews for the business........can i write how "joe blows crab shack" had horrible service. Or is there some legal issue like slander or libel or whatever?Is it legal to start a critics website reviewing local business using the name of the business in the review?

Does it make a difference in taste as to whether crab legs are cold or warm. I've had crab legs at Vegas buffets %26amp; didn't like it. However, I liked the crab legs in the steam pot @ Joe's Crab Shack. I also like crab from Fisherman's Wharf and from Reb Lobster. Why is it? Does the warmth make it taste better? Can't remember the name but if you're looking you won't miss it.

What are some fun restaurants to go to in Florida near the Orlando area?
I will be going to Florida soon and I am very excited to try some new fun (reasonably priced) restaurants. Im look to see if anyone on here has any suggestions? I heard Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville is a fantastic and fun place. Has anyone on her been? What is it like there? I also heard Joe's Crab Shack is a fun place. Any suggestions?

Well my gosh, there are soooo many place you can go! Jimmy's is definitely fun. Gives you the laid back vibe of being living the island life down in the Florida Keys. But, until you actually GO to the KJeys, you'll know it's no comparison-but still cool! Let's see how about:

Joe's Crab Shack is really fun and decorated fun, they sing lol. You can always go to a place that has live music too! Like The Globe on Wall St. Look at an online yellow pages and you can find all sorts of great places to visit while you are in Orlando! Hope that helps : %26gt;

son got married at disney last april 1, had the reception at jimmy buffets...WONDERFUL! also, in the same city walk complex is nascar cafe and hard rock cafe. free admission and parking after 7p.m. tony romas is great for ribs. go to downtown disney, disney boardwalk, and city walk at universal on a friday or saturday nite. all free, busy, and great entertainment and food.

2 tablespoons masa flour
1 cup chicken stock
1/4 cup cream

1/2 cup milk
Chicken Enchilada Pasta
1 tablespoon corn oil
1/4 pound cubed chicken breast
1 ounce red onion, cut into 1/4-inch wide strips
1 ounce bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch wide strips
2 tablespoons pimento, diced 1/4-inch
2 tablespoons green chiles, diced 1/4-inch
2 tablespoons black beans, cooked and rinsed
1 cup Enchilada Cheese Sauce
2 cups cooked rigatoni
Garnish items
1/2 cup Cheddar cheese
1 dollop sour cream
2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
6 jalape帽o slices
1/2 cup toasted tortilla strips

Get everythin "in it's place" as the great chefs would say --
Fill up a pot of water and get ready to cook some rigatoni pasta! (I don't know how long it takes your stove to boil water but better to have the boiling pot waiting on you than the other way around!).
While your waiting for the water, chop peppers and onion.
Cook the beans on low.
Saut茅 the first five ingredients until the veggies start to brown and the chicken is fully cooked.
Clean the kitchen area up now that the raw chicken is cooking and let's get started on the cheese sauce which is just a mexican bashamel.
Melt butter and flour. Slowly add the stock,.
then the cream. Your sauce will only reach it's fullest thickness once it has come to a boil, so let it come to a slow boil.
Check on the chicken, browning on each side.
Put the pasta in the salted boiling water and cook to the packages directions.
Now back to the sauce; add the cheese and melt. Then finish with the remaining milk, cumin and lime.
Turn off the bean, they don't need to go that long.
Slice a couple of tortillas cut in strips cook in a pan brushed lightly with oil and season well with salt pepper, garlic and paprika. Toast on meduim heat.
Once the pasta is finished add the Enchilada Cheese Sauce. Pour sauted the ingredients over the pasta, then garnish and serve.

I live in Iowa and want to work at a fairly busy restaurant. I've applied at Famous Dave's, Biaggi's, Rock Bottom, Joe's Crab Shack, Old Chicago, PF Chang's, and a couple others. All of these are pretty busy restaurants in my area. Can anyone share with me how much they made in tips if they worked as a waiter or waitress at any of these restaurants, or even if you worked at a different restaurant? Tips, mine ranged from $8 on slow nights to over $120 on good nights. The only generalism with waitressing is that you don't get the good shifts (weekend nights) right off the bat. One of the waitressing jobs I had during weekday lunch usually netted me $2 in change since everyone was so cheap during lunch. It was a miracle to actually see a one dollar bill at lunch. I'm guessing though you'll have better customers since it seems like you're in one of the metro areas. Good luck, waitressing can be very lucrative if you love what you do. My best day/night got me over $600.

That depends on a lot of things actually. Those are all good chain restaurants, so it would seem like they would be good choices. You'll make more money on the weekend, more people dine out then. . Its hard work, but if you give great service, you can make decent money. Be friendly, keep a good pace, check on your customers often. Most places have waitresses on a shift for 4-6 hours. Depending on how busy it is on any given night, Id say you can make anywhere from $40-100 per night, if not more on the weekends. Times that by how many nights you work and that's your weekly income. Dont rely on paychecks, most servers only make around $2.50 an hour. Its hard to figure out a budget doing this job though, because the pay isnt steady, every night is different. Hope it works out for you and good luck!

Its hard work, but if you give great service, you can make decent money. Be friendly, keep a good pace, check on your customers often. Most places have waitresses on a shift for 4-6 hours. Depending on how busy it is on any given night, Id say you can make anywhere from $40-100 per night, if not more on the weekends. Times that by how many nights you work and that's your weekly income. Dont rely on paychecks, most servers only make around $2.50 an hour. Its hard to figure out a budget doing this job though, because the pay isnt steady, every night is different. Basically, take french onion soup mix, or a vegetable soup mix (as long as there are NO NOODLES in the mix.)...or Knorr's leek soup mix, etc.... most of Knorr's soup mixes work well... and mix one package soup mix into one container (2cups, or 500ml)of sour cream, or plain yogurt. Mix it the day before, or at least an hour before, so that the flavour can develop properly. Great for plain chips, veggies, or pretzels. (Just make sure if you use yogurt, that it's PLAIN yogurt, NOT vanilla flavoured.) A lot of soup mixes have recipes on the back for being used as dips, as well.
Some dips, you can add other things to.... like, mix a vegetable or leek soup mix with sour cream, and add some unthawed frozen spinach, and you have a spinach dip, perfect for bread!

Plastic hermit crab cage with saran wrap?
hi i have a super pet little crab shack and i have also eco earth and a coconut house. and so i was wondering if i could put saran wrap on the blue metal sides in the tank so it can have lots of humidity in the tank? the eco earth is damp so is the coconut house.Plastic hermit crab cage with saran wrap?

ditch the cage and get the animal a proper tank. The animals will only get to the saran wrap though the wires and destroy it. Also hermit crabs shouldn't be exposed to any metals in their habitat. So why people sell them in cages too small for multiple crabs and made of wire is beyond me.
Please just invest in a proper hermit crab set up. That way the animal has at least a slight chance of living out his potential 20 + years with you. The aquarium doesn't have to be water proof. So if you are willing to do some DIY you can get an old cracked 10 gallon for next to nothing. ( I got one for $10 and I got my 100 gallon for $40) Then you can make a lid from plexi glass if you don't have a proper lid and can't afford a glass lid.

Attention all hermit crab lovers.....I need help with setting up my crabitat.?
When I bought the two hermit crabs, my little boys chose to get the Giant Little Crab Shack starter kit. It has palm trees, food bowl, sand, sponge, climbing toy and mister. Anyway we set it up and it looks great, but I don't think it is suitable based on what i have read on the internet. This crab shack can been seen if you do a search for it. It has a plastic base and cover, but it also has metal climber and metal bars. I read that metal is not good for hermit crabs. I also read that play sand is best for the crabs but it is a good idea to layer the play sand with calci sand. Is this true and if so, which layer goes on bottom and which on top? Basically, I need to know specifically what to purchase for a suitable crabitat- what type and size cage/aquarium, what kind of sand, toys, greenery, etc. Information on food would be great as well. i have 6 crabs in a four foot tank with the heat mat positioned on the inside wall i use play sand and havent any probs,you need a hygrometer to measure the humidity in the tank, mine eat crab food and corned beef and have been ok for a few weeks now (as im new to hermits) i have the water bowl filled with salt water and a peble so its esier for them to suck off the sponge mine have a hidey cave and selection of shells xx

3/4 lb of crab is still considered little. But then again too much of everything is never good. Crab is laden with cholesterol, you might want to watch on that. Just don't eat them too often, u shud be fine.

It's always bad to eat too much of anything. But you can always balance it out by not eatting as much tomorrow or eat healthier tomorrow. Take a break from crab and junk food and you will be fine. Make sure to also exercise...A walk on the beach is always good after eatting the crabs. But I know the beach near Joe's Crab Shack is not all that great....soOo Polluted.
I really don't think 3/4 lb. would hurt you at all.
I went to Red Lobster and ate 1 lbs. and I was fine,
it was a lott of crab too.
Don't stress or think too much about it, or it might play mind games and you'll get a stomach ache, which isn't good!
I only weigh 95 lbs. .and I could handle a pound of crab, so don't worry.

Joe's stone crab's is pretty good. Red Lobster sucks, over priced, poorly cooked. Christens treat lobster like sex, sin today, repent tomorrow and all is forgiven. The problem I have with stone crabs is not that they don't have scales it is the fact that they ruthlessly rip one or it's little arms off and throw it back in the water to grow a new one. Thar's f-ed up.
Go to the store, buy a lobster put it in about an inch of water with a lid over it so that it steams ( boiling leaches all the flavor out), after it turns bright red it should be about another 7 minutes a pound. The way you test is to give a sharp little yank to one of the small legs, if it is ready it will come right off. Serve with melted butter. There's a difference between the old dietary laws given to the Israelites, and the moral commandments given to Gentiles. Jews are still under the dietary laws, but Gentiles are not and never have been. We're only under the moral commandments, which is all that Jesus expected of Gentiles. He never said that one had to become Jewish to follow Him.

Joe's stone crab's is pretty good. Red Lobster sucks, over priced, poorly cooked. Christens treat lobster like sex, sin today, repent tomorrow and all is forgiven. The problem I have with stone crabs is not that they don't have scales it is the fact that they ruthlessly rip one or it's little arms off and throw it back in the water to grow a new one. Thar's f-ed up.
Go to the store, buy a lobster put it in about an inch of water with a lid over it so that it steams ( boiling leaches all the flavor out), after it turns bright red it should be about another 7 minutes a pound. The way you test is to give a sharp little yank to one of the small legs, if it is ready it will come right off. Serve with melted butter. Much better and cheaper than Red Lobster will ever give you.How come no Christians seem to mind Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack?
unfortunately it is due to misunderstanding of not being accountable to mosaic and ceremonial law and practices after the crucifixion. the use of Peters vision on the rooftop is often cited as proof to all animals being clean to eat. But the truth was not animals but it was God telling Peter to go with Cornelius the Roman Centurion in which he did and converted his whole family. That it was time to bring the good news to the gentiles. Many forget that Jesus stated not one letter or tittle (dot) would disappear. We are still just as responsible for obedience to the law as before. Pig is mentioned as an abomination (check last 2 chapters of Isaiah) no where does it say God changed his mind. If the above argument is credible than it must be ok for same sex relationships, since they love each other it must be ok. God said it was an abomination, but since Christs sacrifice it must be ok. No it is still as much an abomination as eating pork. I recently gave up pork and the unclean animals listed. (a little over a year) and I feel cleaner and better. I was interested in bartending but I hear they prefer you to begin as a server. I have no experience in restaurants at all! I need something to make me a descent amount of money in the small amount of time that I'm not in school! So basically I'm thinking I'm going to waitress but before I decide had a few questions since I'm new! First off.. do hostesses make decent money? Haha.. just to make sure... before I choose! Less than servers I assume? And the only thing I'm nervous about are the trays! Will it be hard for me to carry %26amp; balance those? I'm scared! I'm small and not all that strong! And does anyone know what the waitresses dress codes are at these places?
And of course don't forget my first question of which place would be better! Any rants or raves?

Don't worry about not being able to carry stuff-you'll learn quickly. If you can't seem to master it, take as many trips as you need or ask another server for help :) I can guarantee you that you'll drop something everyone does :)

hi. i currently work retail in the mall for Express. and i dont hate it but im not making enough, so i was contemplating trying my hand at being a server... ive chosen two main restaraunts... joes and tx. im just not sure which job to take? joes is more of a central location but tx is in a rich neighborhood and is always packed. has anyone worked at either of these places? if so how much money were you making?? like per week or per night? i am a senior in high school, i have a car note, insurance, gas, college, and random other things to pay for... also my 82 yr old grampa rescently got diagnosed with cancer and obviously its expensive so obviously money is necessary. thank you, any info helps. sorry about the longgggg info..Joe's crab shack or Texas roadhouse?

How do you cook snow crab? (Chesapeake Bay or Chickie's and Pete's)?
I am going to pick up about 2lbs of some snow crab. I loved the Chesapeake Bay boil from Joe's Crab Shack. Or even better, the crab from Chickie's and Pete's in NJ. Can someone give me some hints on how to cook something like this? I have never cooked crab before, and I don't want to over cook it.

It is best to thaw your crab before you cook them. Place your frozen snow crab in the refrigerator the day before you are planning on cooking them. Large amounts of clusters will take longer to heat thoroughly.

depends on the particular shop, it is hard to say that the whole chain is nice to work at. a great way to find out would be to go and eat there. are the staff nice or do they look worn out? is the costumer service great or lacking? usually, a company that treats it's customers well has a good staff. having a good staff is a huge indicator that people like to work there.Is joe's crab shack a good place to work?

We have a Crab Shack in Sacramento, CA. It is good food, no complaints there, but it is pricey. The atmosphere is very casual and very loud. I enjoyed it very much. Way better than Red Lobster in my opinion.

It looks like everybody working there is a teenager %26amp; it really pees me off when they dance on the table. One time this little boy had a birthday %26amp; I wanted to tell the guy singing "Happy Birthday" to just SHUT THE HECK UP! He was totally off-key with no vibrato (much unlike my boyfriend Cyrus) %26amp; his voice kept cracking, but he sang at the top of his lungs anyway %26amp; they all clapped hard enough to shatter the fragile walls of the place or knock the T-shirts %26amp; rainbow Christmas lights off of them too!

Red Lobster...what the hell is Joe's Crab Shack???
I had to fly all the way to Florida to get some of Joe's crabs.
But I'm gonna have to say Red Lobster.Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack?

Both. Red Lobster in Albuquerque, Joe's in Tempe. But it largely depends on what atmosphere and type of seafood you want. Red Lobster is more refined and less messy; Joe's is rowdier and you can really get involved with your food. At Joe's you can eat outdoors which may or may not be a plus.

Definitely NOT Red Lobster. Almost all of their seafood is FROZEN. Ick. I like fresh seafood. So between the two, I'd definitely choose Joe's. Given my choice of seafood restaurants in Jacksonville, FL (where I live) I'd either choose J.L. Trent's or Bonefish Grill.

Here is the way to go: if you want to have a fun date with someone or just have a great time with a group of people (dancing can be optional!) go to joe's. Fun atmosphere and the stuffed mushroom appetizer is the BEST. Entrees are all about the same to me.
But if you want a more serious, intimate meal and better quality meals then go to Red Lobster. Their cheese biscuits (free with the meals) are GREAT. My favorite meals there usually have shrimp, and the lobster tails are great too. I can only tell you about the quality of each place, because EVeryone has different opinions on the flavors and such.

If you like a more laid back environment where you can get a bucket of crab legs and a Corona go to Joe's Crab Shack. It's a more fun and upbeat atmosphere. It's somewhat touristy (they sell t-shirts and souvenirs). If you want something a little more classy, go to Bonefish Grill. To me, it's the Macaroni Grill of Seafood (they have the paper table cloths where kids can draw on it and the bread that you can dip in olive oil..yum!)
I haven't been to both places much..mostly because of the prices and I'm trying to save money. I've only been to Joe's twice and Bonefish once. At Joe's I've had some type of sampler platter the first time I went that had crab stuffed shrimp, a crabcake, and a piece of fish and the second time I got a bucket of snow crab legs with a mixture of Old Bay and Garlic Seasonings. As appetizers, we had the garlicky mussels and the great balls of fire (spicy shrimp and crab balls). I've enjoyed both of my experiences there. At Bonefish Grill, we had the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer and I got the grilled salmon with the Asian sauce...and it was very, very good. So I would have to recommend both places. It's hard for me to choose because both places offer different things.

Yes! I think the whole theme and decorations are awesome! It's really fun and I think the food is good. They also do a funny dance. You should try it.
Very similar to a Red Lobster. A bit more obnoxious. The wait staff wears tacky tie dyed t-shirts and they sing and dance.

LOVE Joe's crab shack - although, if you're looking for a quiet place to eat, Joe's is probably not a good place to go (the wait staff has a tendency to dance to the music and be pretty loud). But the food is good and at a decent price. If you have kids, they will LOVE it!!

I like the food, and it has a very upbeat atmosphere. I went there for my birthday, and the way they helped me celebrate was to have me wear a cowgirl hat and ride around on a stick horse while they sang "Happy Birthday" to me. It was hilarious :)

it was way over rated in my book. i have had better in cheaper resturants with less of a wait.
foods fine---the atmosphere leaves alot to be desired! NOISY and then the staff go around singing at times! UGH---just let me eat in peace

Yes! I think the whole theme and decorations are awesome! It's really fun and I think the food is good. They also do a funny dance. You should try it.
Very similar to a Red Lobster. A bit more obnoxious. The wait staff wears tacky tie dyed t-shirts and they sing and dance.

LOVE Joe's crab shack - although, if you're looking for a quiet place to eat, Joe's is probably not a good place to go (the wait staff has a tendency to dance to the music and be pretty loud). But the food is good and at a decent price. If you have kids, they will LOVE it!!
The entertainment is good there with the waiters and waitresses...they interact with the customers...the food is okay....
