We're going to Newport Aquarium and I want to know which restaurant is better for an early dinner. Taking a 12 year old boy.Joe's Crab Shack or Johnny Rockets?
Of the two I prefer Joe's Crab Shack, I think Johnny Rockets is basically just overpriced hamburgers in a cool diner setting. There's more seating at Joe's, but that may not be a concern depending on what time you go. The last thing I'd consider is Joe's Crab Shack isn't on the levee, it's nearby and you could definitely walk from the aquarium if you wanted, but I'd recommend driving. It depends on what you want -- I think Joe's might be a more relaxing atmosphere, Johnny Rockets is usually very busy and a little loud. As long as you don't have to wait to be seated, you'll be in and out of Johnny Rocket's quicker.
johnny Rockets is like a retro diner that serves primarily hamburgers. Pretty good burger, but think 1960s' McDonalds on steroids.
Joe's Crab Shack has a larger menu, but their main thing is seafood, primarily all forms of crab. If you've been wanting to try any of the crab they catch on the Deadliest Catch TV show, then Joe's is the place to go.
I'd say Joe's is the more entertaining of the two. No alcohol at Johnny Rockets.Joe's Crab Shack or Johnny Rockets?
Both are okay, but Johnny Rocket's would be much more fun for a 12 y/o.
Johnny Rockets is good. Never been to Joe's Crab Shack, I prefer burgers! =)
